About Jarq
Jarq is a macOS menu-bar app that lets you act on text right where your cursor already is — in any app, without copy-paste or switching to a separate tab.
What Jarq does
Select any text in a browser, a PDF, Figma, a terminal or a native window, and Jarq can translate, shorten, fix or rewrite it in place with a hotkey. Hold a different hotkey and dictate: the finished text — punctuated, in the language you chose — lands at the cursor in whatever field you were already typing in. It translates between thirteen languages, whether you are speaking or working from a selection. Speech is transcribed on our backend by Cloudflare Workers AI or Groq, or entirely on your Mac once you install the local Whisper model, after which your voice never leaves the machine.
What we stand for
The point of Jarq is to keep you where your cursor is. Tools that make you copy text out, switch to another window, paste, wait, and paste the result back cost more attention than the task itself. Jarq removes that round trip. Privacy is part of the same idea: audio and selected text are processed in memory and sent straight back — never stored to train on — and your history file stays on your Mac. If you would rather nothing left the machine at all, the on-device recognition option makes that true.
Who makes it
Jarq is made by Birzhan Abishev — a product designer and builder from Kazakhstan, running a small independent operation that answers its own support email. Legally it is a sole proprietorship (IP Abishev Birzhan Orynbasarovich / ИП Абишев Биржан Орынбасарович), registered in Astana in September 2019. Payments are handled by Paddle as merchant of record, and the app and this site run on Cloudflare.
Requirements
Jarq runs on a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 13 Ventura or newer. It starts with a 14-day free trial and then keeps working on a free plan of 5 dictations or translations a day. See the pricing page for plans and fair-use limits, and the privacy policy for exactly what the app sends and what happens to it.
