Translate inside Figma and the terminal
A few apps never show the buttons on a selection — Figma, terminals, Telegram. The shortcut works in all of them, and in Figma the translation goes straight back onto the canvas.
Do it
- Select the text the way you always do. In Figma, double-click into the text layer. In a terminal, drag across the line.
- Press ⌥T.
- In Figma the translation replaces what was there. In a terminal and in Telegram it appears in the bubble, already copied.
Where this saves you
- Localising a design without leaving it. Translate the copy on the canvas, layer by layer, and watch the layout react to the new length as you go.
- A stack trace in a language you do not read. Drag across it in the terminal and get it back in yours.
- A chat that switched languages. Telegram hides its selection from other apps; the shortcut does not care.
- Reviewing someone else's copy. Shorten or fix a line in place instead of pasting it into a chat window and back.
Good to know
Your clipboard is put back exactly as it was — whatever you had copied before is still there afterwards.
In Figma, open the layer for editing first (double-click, or click and press Return). A single click selects the layer rather than its text, and Jarq will show the bubble instead of typing into the canvas.
Jarq can also reach for this route by itself when a selection ends in one of these apps. If you would rather it never did, switch off the clipboard fallback in Settings → Text Capture. The shortcut keeps working.
