Guide
Show the buttons only when you ask
Jarq offers its buttons whenever you select text. If you select a lot of text for other reasons, that is one popup too many. Switch it off and keep the shortcut.
Switch it off
- Open Settings → Text Capture.
- Turn off Show buttons on selection.
- From then on, select the text and press ⌥T when you want the buttons.
When this is the better setting
- You edit for a living. Selecting a sentence to move it is not a request to translate it.
- You read with the mouse. Some people select text while reading, the way others use a finger.
- You are sharing your screen. No popup appears over the document you are presenting.
- You only need it now and then. Translation is occasional; the shortcut is enough.
Good to know
The shortcut keeps working everywhere, including the apps where the buttons never appeared anyway — Figma, terminals, Telegram — and over text you cannot select at all.
The shortcut itself can be changed in the same place, if ⌥T collides with something you already use.
Halfway house: leave the buttons on and give yourself fewer of them. Switching actions off in the row makes the popup smaller without making it disappear.
