Works in Slack

Translate, dictate and fix —
without leaving the channel.

Write the message the fast way and send it in the channel’s language, mentions and bold intact. Say it instead of typing it, and check it before it goes.

@Dana build 73 is on staging now.
Fixed: pasting into Jira
Still to check: the German copy
The demo is on Friday on Thursday.
Details in yesterday’s thread.
✓ A draft written in Spanish, sent in English
Comes back as it was

Only the words change

Slack keeps its own format on the clipboard; Jarq reads it, translates only the words, and gives Slack the same format back.

  • Mentions
  • Emoji
  • Bold, italic, strikethrough
  • Inline code
  • Links
  • Bulleted and numbered lists
  • Nesting
  • Quotes
  • Line breaks
The same job, two ways

3⌘V, wait for the answer
4Copy the result
5Switch back to Slack
6⌘V over the draft
7Put the bold, the list and the mention back by hand
The reply lands late, and plainer than you wrote it

With Jarq

2steps · 0 switches
1Select your draft
2Press ⌥T
The mention still pings the person it named
Dictation

Say it in yours, send it in theirs

Put the cursor in the message box, hold ⌥Space and talk. With a language set to type in, you speak the one you think in and the channel’s lands in the box, punctuated and ready to read before you send.

We’re moving the demo to Thursday. The room is booked.
✓ Spoken in Spanish, standing in the box in English
Before you send

Fix the message you wrote in a hurry

Select the draft and press Fix: spelling, grammar and punctuation, and nothing else — the mention stays a mention, the bold stays bold, the words stay yours.

@Dana build 73 is on staging. I checked it this morning — it works.
✓ Same message, spelled the way you meant it
Not only translation

And the other half of a channel: reading it

Read what they wrote

Point at a message and press ⌥T. The translation appears beside the pointer; the channel does not change and nothing is sent. More on pointing.

Draft the reply from a note

Type what you want to say — “can’t make Thursday, suggest Friday” — select it and press Ask. The reply takes the note’s place, ready to read before it goes.

Good to know

Before you try it here

Do mentions still notify people?
Yes. A mention goes through the translation as a mention, not as the text “@name”, so the person it names is notified when you send.
Can I translate a message someone else sent?
Point at it and press ⌥T. You read the translation beside the pointer; nothing is posted and the message stays as it was.
Why does the selection disappear for a moment?
Slack gives pasted text the formatting of the selection it replaces — paste over a quote and the whole answer can come back as one. So Jarq deletes the selection first, then pastes, and every line keeps its own formatting.
How long can a message be?
Up to 6,000 characters in one selection. Select more and ⌥T says so instead of translating part of it.
Where does the text go?
To the translation model and straight back. Nothing is stored and nothing is used for training — the privacy policy says who handles it on the way.

Try it on your own page

One file, dragged into Applications. It sits in the menu bar and answers a key wherever you are already typing.
